Dubai. Roads and Transport Authority. 9th May 2023

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has become a strategic partner of the World Logistics Passport (WLP) initiative, a private-sector-led freight loyalty program in Dubai aimed at streamlining international trade and providing access to global markets. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed recently between the two parties to reduce costs, save time, and remove commercial barriers.

The memorandum of understanding ‎seeks to deliver exceptional global services and expertise, initiatives, and incentive programs that bolster Dubai's standing by supporting and organizing logistics and commercial transport firms. It also streamlines member companies' operations through information sharing and joint program consolidation to attract worldwide investments for mutual benefit. The partnership is intended to enhance growth opportunities and align with the vision of both parties, ultimately resulting in improved customer satisfaction.

Mr. Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, and Mr. Mahmoud Al Bastaki, Director General of the WLP initiative, signed the memorandum.

Mahmoud Al Bastaki, Director General of the WLP, welcomed RTA Dubai’s memorandum‎ and emphasized the commitment of Dubai to develop a flexible and sustainable logistics ecosystem. The initiative aims to foster cooperation and strengthen trade routes via its unique network of WLP partners and members, thereby increasing trade volume in high-value commodities. He also highlighted the ongoing efforts to expedite the adoption of digital infrastructure to make trade more efficient and productive for all stakeholders.

Abdullah Yousef Al Ali expressed delight in signing the memorandum, considering it the first step in building a lasting partnership with the WLP. He views the memorandum as a strategic framework that enhances services for business owners in Dubai by fostering collaboration in commercial transport activities and delivering targeted, exceptional services to individual customers and companies operating in the sector, thus contributing to the growth and solidification of the sector's position in the emirate.

Under the memorandum, the WLP initiative, through its extensive network, will allow members to enjoy a range of benefits with particular focus on cost reduction, time-saving, and eliminating trade barriers. It also aims to simplify the transportation of goods for merchants and freight forwarders while providing access to global markets. The RTA will facilitate the operations of logistics and commercial transport companies by offering concessions based on the available resources in Dubai. The authority will organize and issue no-objection certificates for companies engaged in commercial transport activities through its website or any preferred websites of companies and dealers.
